Lisa Higgins
Lisa began a career in Law Enforcement
that now spans nearly thirty years. She has served as a
mounted officer for both Pearl River Police Department
(1978-1991) as well as St. Tammany Sheriff's Office
(1991-present) where she still handles an HRD dog. In
December of 1998 Lisa qualified as a subject matter expert in
New Orleans Criminal Court.
In November of 1989 Lisa along with Dee
Wild co-founded "LaSAR" (Louisiana Search and Rescue Dog Team).
This team is still active despite their losses through Katrina,
they have responded to well over five hundred searches.
Lisa is also currently serving on the
executive board for the new organization, NSDA, the National
Search Dog Alliance.
Working with her third dog Maggie, an
Australian Shepherd, Lisa remains active in the search field.
